IMMAF Continues Expansion as Bolivia Joins

By Press Release

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) welcomes the Bolivian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) as the latest member nation to join MMA’s world governing body, under the presidency of Florenco Artega Laura

Official sport recognition of MMA is flourishing under IMMAF national federations in South America. The BMMAF joins already with recognition from its national Sports Ministry, attained in December 2019, requiring compliance to its rules and regulation under Bolivian law.

Based in the capital city of La Paz, the Bolivian MMA Federation has a membership spanning 40 MMA clubs united under BMMAF secretary, Trinidad Andrea Arispe Aranibar.

Now working in compliance with global objectives for the development of MMA under the IMMAF, the Bolivian federation has outlined its priority goals as follows:

  • Establish a national amateur championship and introduce a talent pathway for young athletes.
Introduce national members to educational opportunities and certification pathways for coaches, referees and judges.
  • Develop the grass roots participation of MMA in the country.
  • Collaborate with neighbouring countries in the development of the sport.

IMMAF President Kerrith Brown commented:

“The IMMAF family continues to grow, despite the challenges faced by global sport at present. With representation of 110 nations, over 40 of whom are formally recognised by their national authorities, and with further applications in process, we look forward to welcoming new national teams and delegates to our expanded family at IMMAF’s next international Championships.”
