IMMAF Visits French Boxing Federation in Paris

By Press Release

A delegation from the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), headed by President Kerrith Brown, visited the headquarters of the French Boxing Federation (FF Boxe) in Paris this week.

The French Sports’ Ministry recently chose the FF Boxe as their preferred choice to run the sport of MMA in France. They will set up and manage the necessary administrative, competition and membership structures via an internal MMA specialist unit, until an independent MMA federation is ready to go it alone.

The IMMAF delegation, which also included IMMAF CEO Densign White and IMMAF CSO Nicolas Davies, met Patrick Wincke, the National Technical Director of FF Boxe, Lionel Brezephin, Technical Officer and Liaison Officer for MMA as well as Arnaud Romera, President of the National Pro Boxing League (LNBP).

The FF Boxe are already hard at work building an administrative framework for MMA in France and will begin a wide consultation process, with a series of workshops to bring together the MMA community being planned over the next 6 months. It is expected that elections for the MMA Committee within the FF Boxe will take place in September.

IMMAF President Kerrith Brown said:

“We are very impressed with the positive attitude of FF Boxe. They are reaching out to France’s MMA community and building something that is both pragmatic and sustainable. The FF Boxe has the know-how, existing structures and human resources to help MMA develop in France. We are going to work closely with them, establishing regular communications and providing any support or guidance that is required.”

Patrick Wincke said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome IMMAF to our HQ in Paris, and to tell them more about our plans and challenges. As the World Governing Body for amateur MMA, IMMAF has well established frameworks for governance, technical rules, membership, educational pathways and competition management systems and are happy to share their knowledge with us. We are looking forward to building a strong working relationship.”
