IMMAF Welcomes New Member in Puerto Rico

By press release

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is a step closer to establishing a complete footprint within the Pan-American region with Observational Membership granted to the Puerto Rico MMA Federation (Federacion Independiente De Artes Marciales Mixtas De Puerto Rico – FIAMMPR).

Mr Orlando Sanchez, President of the registered non-profit Federation, is well-recognized within the Puerto Rican MMA community. The autonomous body has established strong membership of registered clubs with effective processes, policies, voting rights, education for coaches and officials, opportunities for volunteers, an amateur competition platform and more.

The FIAMMPR Board of Directors recognises the change in the landscape for the development of MMA and aims to progress further under the unified international organisation of IMMAF, benefitting from the support that it entails. The organisation’s new agenda will bring consistency to the regulation of MMA across Puerto Rico and aims to bring the work of FIAMMPR to the attention of the Puerto Rican Olympic Committee.

IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown:

“IMMAF has continued to expand its family through 2020, which has provided time to double down on sport development and global governance matters. On behalf of the IMMAF board, I am delighted to welcome the FIAMMPR to IMMAF and to our active network of members in Latin America. We look forward to welcoming Puerto Rican athletes to IMMAF Championships in 2021.”
