Instinct 4 Set for June 29th, Martin Grandmont vs. Brandon Thatch Headlining

Jens Pulver Fighting Stephane Pelletier

By FCF Staff

Instinct Fighting has confirmed the date, venue and several of the feature bouts that will accompany the promotion’s upcoming fourth event. The card will take place on Friday night, June 29th, at Montreal’s Pierre Charbonneau Centre and will feature a welterweight bout between veteran Martin Grandmont and Strikeforce vet Brandon Thatch.

The two were expected to fight previously; however, a back injury to Grandmont prevented the bout from materializing.

Grandmont (12-6) is coming off a stoppage loss to UFC vet Pete Spratt at Instinct 2 in December, which halted the French Canadian fighter’s three fight win streak. 9 of Grandmont’s professional wins have come via TKO or knockout.

Thatch (7-1) is currently riding a six fight win streak, which includes a stoppage win over Patrick Vallee and more recently a KO victory over Jory Erickson while competing for Instinct. The Denver fighter also holds a win over Chidi Njokuani, the brother of UFC vet, Anthony.

The upcoming Instinct 4 event will also feature a bantamweight bout between former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver and the rising Stephane Pelletier.

Pulver (26-16) will be looking to build on a unanimous decision win he scored over Jesse Thorton while competing for Cage Warrior Combat in April, after he was KO’d by Tim Elliott at a Resurrection Fighting Alliance card in December.

Pelletier (6-1) has won four straight bouts and is coming off a submission win over Melvin Blumer at Instinct 3.

Instinct has also announced that lightweight Thierry Quennenville (15-9) will take on UFC vet Luke Caudillo (17-16) at the June 29th event.
