Menjivar

By FCF Staff

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced several more bouts for the promotion’s upcoming spring schedule, including a bantamweight bout between Ivan Menjivar and John Albert, and a heavyweight clash between Joey Beltran and Lavar Johnson.

The Menjivar, Albert tilt will be part of the promotion’s upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 1 event, which goes down February 15th in Omaha, Nebraska.

Menjivar (23-8) will be looking to build on a two fight winning streak which includes victories over Charlie Valencia and Nick Pace, while the former TUF competitor Albert (7-1) is coming off his first official Octagon win on December 3rd, when he stopped Dustin Pague.

Johnson will head to Chicago on January 28th to make his Octagon debut against Beltran, in the latest bout to be confirmed for the UFC on FOX 2 card.

Beltran (13-6) will be looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 136 in October, while Johnson (15-5) has dropped two straight fights with Strikeforce, after winning his first three with the promotion.

Johnson’s move to the UFC comes just days removed from the announcement that Strikeforce’s heavyweight division will be phased out in 2012.

The UFC has also confirmed that Caio Magalhaes (5-0) has signed with the promotion, and will step in for the injured Stanislav Nedkov against Fabio Maldonado (18-4). The light-heavyweight fight is scheduled for January 14th as part of the UFC 142 card in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
