By FCF Staff
TJ Grant and Jacob Volkmann will close out their 2011 campaigns by fighting each other on December 30th, at UFC 141 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The promotion announced this afternoon on its official website that the two lightweights have agreed to meet on the card.
Grant (17-5) is coming off a successful lightweight debut, as the Nova Scotia fighter tapped out Shane Roller with a third round, armbar at UFC Live 6 in October, after deciding to drop down from welterweight earlier in the year.
In his last appearance at 170 pounds, Grant lost by unanimous decision to Ricardo Almeida at UFC 124 last December. Grant is 3-2 in his last five fights.
Volkmann (13-2) has won four straight bouts heading into UFC 141, as the experienced wrestler has scored wins over Ronys Torres, Paul Kelly, Antonio McKee and most recently Danny Castillo.
The Minnesota fighter’s last defeat took place in January, 2010, when he was submitted by Martin Kampmann.
UFC 141 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will feature former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar versus former Strikeforce champ Alistair Overeem in the main event.
