After taking out Augusto Sakai, Jairzinho Rozenstruik wants a top-ranked heavyweight next, regardless of whether they appear to be a more favorable match-up.

The experienced kickboxer faced Sakai in the main event of UFC Vegas 28, and finished the contender with a series of punches late in round one. The victory returned Rozenstruik (12-2) to the win column, as he was coming off a decision loss to rising heavyweight, Ciryl Gane in February.

Heading into Saturday’s card, the 33-year-old Rozenstruik was ranked #6 in the UFC’s heavyweight division. While talking about his hopes for his next fight, following his latest win, Rozenstruik said this (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“(I want) everybody who is ranked above me, it doesn’t matter what the style,” Rozenstruik said. “If a guy is a wrestler, then I have to wrestle and I have to do my kickboxing. If he’s a kickboxer, I have to kickbox with him and maybe wrestle for him. For me, it doesn’t matter. I try to make myself an MMA fighter and not just a kickboxer who is doing MMA.”

And while discussing a timeline for his next fight, the heavyweight relayed he wants to fight again soon.

“I’m not hurt. I want to do a quick turnaround of two or three months.”

Rozenstruik, who has 76 kickboxing wins on his resume, has gone 6-2 to date now in the UFC. Sakai (15-3-1) has lost two straight now, after going 4-0 in his first four, official, UFC fights.
