Jan Blachowicz Doesn’t Believe Jon Jones is Really “Quitting”

Recently Jon Jones said he’s vacating the UFC’s light-heavyweight belt and that Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz can fight it out for the title. But, according to the latter, Jones isn’t really planning to walk away.

Since negotiations to make a fight between Jones and Francis Ngannou failed, the champion and White have accused each other of lying about “Bones” demands. More recently, Jones announced that he’s giving up the title, and that he’d be interested in returning next year to fight Israel Adesanya, if the UFC’s willing to pay more.

When the contender Blachowicz was contacted by MMA Fighting to comment on the situation, the Polish fighter said this.

“I’m just a little bit tired of this situation,” Blachowicz said. “I’m just waiting. He’s not quitting. He’s not going to retire. I think this is his game to make more money and this is it. But we will see what the UFC will do. I’m just waiting for the UFC moves and that’s it. We will see.

“If he quits, then I hope my next fight will be for the title against Dominick Reyes. This is my next scenario if he quits but I don’t believe that. I’m still waiting for him.”

The 37-year-old Blachowicz has moved into title contention as a result of a three fight winning streak, which includes KO wins over Luke Rockhold and Corey Anderson.
