By FCF Staff

The Maximum Fighting Championship has announced that light-heavyweight champion  Ryan Jimmo (pictured) will look to defend his title against Pride and UFC vet Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, October 7th.  The title fight will headline the MFC 31 card, which will be hosted by Edmonton, Alberta’s Mayfield Conference Center.

Jimmo (15-1) will head into the title defense having won fifteen straight fights since he was defeated in his pro MMA debut. The accomplished Karate competitor last competed in April and scored a unanimous decision win over Zak Cummings at MFC 29. Jimmo has also earned victories over veteran fighters like Marvin Eastman, Emanuel Newtown and Wilson Gouveia during his time with the MFC.

Sokoudjou (12-8) is currently riding a three fight win streak, which includes victories over Jan Blachowicz,  Valdas Pocevicius, and most recently Roy Boughton. Prior to the wins the light-heavyweight dropped back-to-back bouts to Shamil Abdurahimov and Houston Alexander.

Other bouts that have been confirmed for MFC 31 include Kajan Johnson (18-10-1) versus Richie Whitson (11-1) and Mukai Maromo (5-2) versus Sabah Fadai (7-1).

The October 7th card will be broadcast live on HDNet.
