Immediately after Jiri Prochazka’s loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 295, the former champion admitted he was badly hurt when the fight was stopped. Since then, Prochazka has released a video statement in which he commented on the bout’s much discussed stoppage.

Prochazka was dropped and then returned to the Octagon floor by a series of punches and elbows from Pereira in round two. But, since Prochazka still appeared to be working to better his position when the fight was stopped, some have criticized referee Marc Goddard.

In the video below, however, Prochazka defended Goddard’s decision, before promising he will be back.

At UFC 295, Prochakza (29-4-1) was competing for the first time since June 2022 when he submitted Glover Teixeira to win the light heavyweight title. The now, 31-year-old fighter vacated the title later in the year after badly injuring his shoulder.
