Joe Rogan Says Bellator Needs to Stop Promoting Bouts Like Kimbo Slice – DADA 5000

After Kimbo Slice and DADA 5000’s bout at Bellator 149 prompted widespread criticism and even condemnation, Joe Rogan is calling on the organization to stop promoting what’s been called ‘fun fights’.

Since DADA 5000 has hardly any MMA experience, and because Slice is not considered to be an elite fighter, the match-up was criticized by many when it was booked. Most believed that the fight would be a short and violent affair, but instead, both men tired quickly and the sluggish fight dragged on into round three. Slice ended up stopping DADA 5000, who in turn, needed medical attention after the bout.

While discussing the bout on his podcast, here’s some of what Rogan had to say about the fight (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I think, eventually, they’ve got to let all that go,” Rogan said. “They can’t keep doing those. They should stop. This is the last one. If they keep doing it they’re going to lose credibility. There’s a lot of things they need to do.”

“I don’t think [Bellator] thought that was going to be as bad as it was,” Rogan said of the bout. “I don’t think anybody would have anticipated those guys would have gassed like that. That was the worst gassing in the history of gassing. Dada just didn’t have enough gas…”

Bellator’s next event will take place this Friday, and in the main event, bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao will take on Eduardo Dantas.
