Jon Jones Says He’s Vacating LHW Title, Moving to HW
By FCF Staff
For some time now, Jon Jones has been talking about competing at heavyweight. Now the star has announced he’s vacating the UFC’s light heavyweight belt and that he’s moving up a weight class.
Jones, who this past weekend relayed on Twitter that he wants to fight heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic, tweeted out these comments on Monday.
Just got off the phone with @Ufc, today I confirm that I’m vacating the light heavyweight championship. It’s officially up for grabs. It’s been an amazing journey, sincere thank you to all my competition, Ufc and most importantly you fans.
Just had a really positive conversation with @Ufc. Sounds like there will be negotiations for my next fight at heavy weight. All good news, the weight gaining process begins.

The 33-year-old Jones (26-1) hasn’t fought since February, when he won a tightly contested decision over Dominick Reyes.
