Jon Jones Scoffs at Argument Khabib Nurmagomedov is The GOAT

Following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s impressive win at UFC 254, and surprising retirement, some observers are claiming the undefeated lightweight is the greatest fighter of all time.

But, Jon Jones is going out of his way to shoot down that narrative.

Nurmagomedov faced Justin Gaethje at the event and moved his record to 29-0, by choking him out in the second round. After the victory, the lightweight champ announced he’s retiring and that’s prompted some people to claim he’s leaving as the greatest.

But since then, Jones has been dismissing that argument via Twitter, and he also said the following in an Instagram video (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I’m talking to all you Khabib fans out there,” Jones said. “Fifteen world titles to your guy’s four. And you guys really talking about who’s the best fighter ever? You guys are joking, right? Fifteen to four, are you guys kidding me?”

“The only person who could possibly come back and challenge my record and what I’ve done in the UFC is possibly Georges St-Pierre,” Jones said. “He’d have to come back and win two championship fights to tie me. And I’m not even retired yet. I’m 33 years old. We’ve got a whole other chapter to go through. You guys are nuts. I love you guys so much. I hope you guys all have a great day.”

Jones (26-1) is coming off a decision win over Dominick Reyes in February, in a contest numerous observers scored for the latter.
