Recently there’s been no shortage of talk about Jon Jones fighting Dominick Reyes again. But, on account of Jan Blachowicz’s impressive win at UFC Rio Rancho, “Bones” believes the contender’s earned a title shot.

Blachowicz faced Corey Anderson in the headliner of Saturday’s card, who had worked his way into title contention, on account of a four fight winning streak. Blachowicz, however, avenged a 2015 loss to Anderson by knocking him out in the first round.

After the win, Blachowicz called for a fight with Jones, and the latter proceeded to tell the media this afterward (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“I think everyone knows the winner of that fight [was] in title contention,” Jones said. “To finish the fight the way he did, first round knockout, I don’t see how the guy can be denied.

“Jan’s been looking great. The way he knocked out Luke Rockhold. The way he just knocked out Corey Anderson. I mean both of those guys aren’t really known for being able to take a punch but he’s pulling the trigger and he’s landing those big shots. I think he’s very deserving.”

Jones, who worked his way to a controversial, decision win over Reyes last weekend, also said this:

“It’s something I definitely consider,” Jones said about fighting Reyes again. “In order for a Dominick Reyes rematch to happen, it’s going to take just a few meetings with the UFC just to make that happen. But if we don’t rematch, I’m fine with that, too.”

Blachowicz was coming off back-to-back wins over “Jacare” Souza and Luke Rockhold before stopping Anderson.
