Jorge Masvidal Out of UFC 269 Bout With Leon Edwards
By FCF Staff
UFC 269 has lost one of its all-star fights, as it’s being reported Jorge Masvidal has been forced out of his bout with Leon Edwards.
The rivals were scheduled to fight at the December 11 card, which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
But, recently the UFC’s broadcast partner, ESPN, was informed by UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell that Masvidal has incurred an injury and will no longer compete. It’s not clear, currently, whether the fight will be rescheduled or if the UFC will seek a new opponent for Edwards.
Ever since Masvidal and Edwards had a backstage altercation in March 2019, at a UFC event in London, there’s been talk about the welterweights fighting.
Rising star, Khamzat Chimaev, has already, reportedly offered to be an opponent for Edwards.
Spoke to Khamzat Chimaev's (@KChimaev) manager Majdi Shammas. Too early to know what is going to happen, but Khamzat has been asking him for a fight every day since UFC 267.
Just texted him when he saw news of Masvidal's withdrawal. "Call UFC now, we travel tomorrow."
