Jorge Masvidal has tremendous respect for George St-Pierre’s abilities as a fighter, which is why he knows he would need to go the extra mile in order to defeat the legend.

It remains to be seen who Masvidal will fight next, after defeating Darren Till, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz in 2019. Recently there’s been extensive talk about the possibility of Masvidal fighting Conor McGregor, who is booked to fight Donald Cerrone on January 18th.

In a recent interview with “Submission Radio“, however, Masvidal was asked about the possibility of fighting St-Pierre. While discussing a match-up with the former welterweight and middleweight champ, Masvidal said this (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Well, they’ve said this about me, that I resurrect fighters and then I retire them again. So, I wouldn’t mind if GSP jumped on that campaign,” Masvidal said. “In all honestly, as a competitor, I want to f*cking break his face. I want to go out there and give him everything I got. But I respect the time what he’s done.

“He took I don’t know how many years off, came back, beat Bisping for the legitimate middleweight title. Dude’s a stud. He’s a f*cking animal, bro. I would put everything into my being, into my soul, to end this individual, because he’s that good.”

St-Pierre retired from pro-fighting in 2019, but, the star has repeatedly expressed an interest in fighting UFC lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
