The MMA world was expecting a thrilling fight between UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar, and the highly regarded fighters engaged in an action packed, five round bout last night in Las Vegas. As a result, the two earned “Fight of the Night” and an extra $50,000 each for their efforts. Aldo earned a unanimous decision in the fight.

“Knockout of the Night” went to Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, for his stunning, third round KO of decorated heavyweight Alistair Overeem. Silva also received $50,000 for the award, which he received for crumpling Overeem with right hands along the Octagon fence.

“Submission of the Night” went to lightweight Bobby Green for his memorable, third round rear-naked-choke win over highly regarded, grappler Jacob Volkmann.

UFC 156 was hosted by the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
