Chan Sung Jung’s shoulder injury captured headlines last night, due to the fact he was stopped by Jose Aldo moments after, but the featherweight champ has revealed he was injured during the bout as well.

Speaking at the post UFC 163 presser last night in Rio de Janeiro, the 26 year-old star relayed that he injured his foot not long into the fight.

“When the fight started the first thing I did, I kicked him and he put his knee. So the first time I kicked him I don’t know if I broke my foot.  I don’t know. It is very swollen.”

Aldo added that as a result, he had to “change my strategy”, and turned to his boxing and wrestling skills, instead of utilizing his vaunted leg kicks.

There’s been no official word yet as to whether Aldo’s foot is indeed broken. The champion went on to stop Jung in round four, as after the Korean fighter separated his shoulder during a striking exchange, he was quickly overwhelmed by Aldo.

The victory was Aldo’s 16th straight and the Brazilian has gone 13-0 now with the WEC and UFC.
