Recently Conor McGregor let it be known that he didn’t agree with people who were questioning Jose Aldo’s condition as he cut down to bantamweight, and the legend clearly appreciated the comments.

After a photo of Aldo was recently shared out, as he prepares to fight Marlon Moraes today at UFC 245, many people expressed concerns about how the former featherweight champ looked. McGregor, however, argued that his former foe looked on top of the weight cut.

More recently, TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter spoke with Aldo, and the latter had this to say about McGregor’s statements (quote via MMA Junkie):

“Of course I took it to heart, the great champions know what it takes to sacrifice things for us to achieve things, the other people, the other fighters only dream of so it means a lot to me that it comes from him. He’s a champion of two weight classes. He knows the sacrifices that I had to make and I really take the compliment, the comment to heart.”

After Aldo weighed-in at 136 pounds on Friday for his bout tonight, McGregor tweeted this:

In 2015, McGregor handed Aldo his first defeat in 10 years by quickly knocking him out at UFC 194.
