Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch Official for UFC 149

Aldo

By FCF Staff

As expected, the UFC has announced that featherweight champion Jose Aldo will fight challenger Erik Koch at the promotion’s upcoming July 21st event in Calgary, Alberta. The UFC 149 card will be hosted by the city’s Scotiabank Saddledome arena.

Aldo (21-1) will be competing for the first time since January, when the pound-for-pound contender knocked out Chad Mendes at UFC 142. The victory extended the 25 year-old Aldo’s win streak to 15.

Koch (13-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Brookins in September, which was the 23 year-old featherweight’s fourth win in a row.

Since Koch began competing under the Zuffa banner, the only man to defeat the Roufusport fighter is the aforementioned Mendes.

Some of the other bouts scheduled for the UFC 149 main card include Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Thiago Silva, Michael Bisping vs. Tim Boetsch, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cheick Kongo and Thiago Alves vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama.
