Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar Rebooked for Super Bowl Weekend’s UFC 146

Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will still be the next man to challenge UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo, as after having their UFC 153 bout fall through, a fight between the two has been re-booked for February 2nd.
The title fight will headline the promotion’s Super Bowl weekend UFC 156 card, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue for UFC 156 has not been announced yet.
Aldo and Edgar were originally scheduled to fight on October 13th, until Aldo sustained minor injuries in a motorcycle accident and was unable to compete. The Brazilian fighter hasn’t fought since January, when Aldo (21-1) knocked out Chad Mendes at UFC 142.
Edgar (14-3) made the decision to drop down to 145 pounds after incurring a split decision loss versus lightweight champion Benson Henderson in August, which followed a unanimous decision defeat to Henderson in February.
Edgar was originally brought in to replace Erik Koch at UFC 153, who had dropped out of his title fight with Aldo due to injury.
Prior to facing Henderson, the New Jersey fighter knocked out Gray Maynard at UFC 136 last October.
