Following his impressive win over Tai Tuivasa last night at UFC Adelaide, Junior dos Santos is calling for a rematch with Alistair Overeem.

Dos Santos took on Tuivasa in the card’s main event on Saturday and handed the rising heavyweight his first defeat by stopping him in round two. After the big victory, dos Santos relayed that he believes the time is right to run it back with Overeem (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“Everybody knows that we fought back in the day,” Dos Santos said. “He was able to win that fight; I think it’s the right moment to do the rematch.

“If you guys remember, he was asking for the fight with me for a little bit, a lot of times. Then when I was able to fight he couldn’t, then when I was there on the top again he asked for the fight again. He got the fight, he won, congratulations to him. So now it’s time for the rematch. Let’s go.”

“Cigano” and Overeem fought in 2015, and the latter won the fight via second-round stoppage. Most recently Overeem took out Sergey Pavlovich at UFC Beijing, and since then, he’s been campaigning for a fight with Derrick Lewis.

Currently dos Santos is ranked #7 in the UFC’s heavyweight division and Overeem is #6.
