Justin Gaethje on Why Donald Cerrone Fight “Does Not Need to be Talked Up”
By FCF Staff
Justin Gaethje is set to battle Donald Cerrone next month, and recently the lightweight contender explained why the fight speaks for itself.
Gaethje and Cerrone will square off in the headliner of UFC Vancouver, which will take place on September 14th. Recently the former WSOF champ spoke with MMA Junkie, and he had this to say about the highly anticipated fight.
“This is pure violence,” Gaethje said. “This does not need to be talked up. “Cowboy” has had the most fights, the most performance bonuses, this will make it the most fights ever, the most wins I think, something like that. He has all the records. So I mean, yeah. What do we need to pump up? If you’ve seen me fight, you know that I come to, I’m 100 percent right now, I’ll be 100 percent when I’m done in the fact that either I go to sleep or they go to sleep, so, that’s what I do.”
Gaethje (20-2) is coming off back-to-back, knockout wins over Edson Barboza and James Vick, and is 3-2 in his last 5 fights. Cerrone (36-12), meanwhile, lost via TKO (due to doctor stoppage) to Tony Ferguson in his last fight, and is also 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.
