K-1 Star Andy Hug Dead At 35

K-1 Star Andy Hug Dead At 35

Kickboxing Champion Andy Hug died from an acute form of leukemia yesterday. Although Hug was reportedly training for the K-1 finals in December in Tokyo, his last match was in July. After the fight, he was reportedly not feeling well and sought time off, cancelling his match in the K-1 USA show earlier this month in Las Vegas. He went home to Switzerland, beset by nausea and nosebleeds. He returned to Japan and was admitted to Nippon Medical School Hospital with a high fever last Saturday. His condition deteriorated rapidly after being admitted to the hospital. He was diagnosed with leukemia and began chemotherapy treatment. Hug began having severe heart and circulation problems, followed by a cerebral hemorrhage and a lung infection, according to Swiss newspaper Blick. He reportedly went into a coma on Wednesday and passed away yesterday. Family and friends were at his bedside when he passed.

Our condolences go out to Andy Hug’s family and friends.
