After coming up short against flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja in his UFC debut, Kai Asakura will face longtime contender, Tim Elliott.

Asakura (21-5) exited RIZIN last year to sign with the UFC, and faced Pantoja at UFC 310 in December. The former RIZIN bantamweight champ was choked out by Pantoja in round two.

More recently, social media, MMA observer, Real Kevin K, reported that Asakura and Elliott will fight at UFC 319, August 16th in Chicagao. Both fighters have reportedly confirmed the match-up via their social media channels.

Elliott (20-13-1), meanwhile, hasn’t competed since December, 2023, when he submitted Su Mudaerji. The rugged veteran and former title challenger has gone 3-2 in his last 5 contests.

Asakura, meanwhile, is also 3-2 in his last 5 fights.

UFC 319 will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chikmaev.
