Kamaru Usman Calls For TUF Season, Title Shot Eliminator With Colby Covington
By FCF Staff
Kamaru Usman continues to campaign for a bout with Colby Covington following his win at UFC Fight Night 124.
Usman took on Emil Meek at the St. Louis event on Sunday, and worked his way to a decision win. Prior to the card, Usman claimed that he had been offered a headlining bout with Covington for the January 14th event, but that the latter turned it down.
After his most recent victory, however, the welterweight made the following proposal (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“What I really want is, Colby Covington has been running his mouth,” Usman said. “He has no one to fight right now. He’s not getting the Tyron Woodley fight. Let’s put up or shut up. Let me and him coach ‘TUF.’ Who wouldn’t be interested in seeing that? Me and him coach ‘TUF,’ then at the end of it, me and him settle the score once and for all to see who’s that No. 1 contender.
“It looks like ‘RDA’ is going to fight the champ when the champ is back. So you know what? Put up or shut up. Let’s coach ‘TUF,’ and at the end, let me beat you up and we can settle it. I’m going to finish him – third round.”
The 29 year-old Usman has now gone 7-0 in the UFC.
