Kelvin Gastelum has shared out a statement, following his quick loss to Jack Hermansson, in which he apologized to his team and support network.

Gastelum faced Hermansson in the co-headliner of UFC Fight Island 2, and was quickly submitted with a heelhook from the renowned grappler. Since then, the middleweight contender posted this statement.

Truly embarrassed guys. I’m sorry. My team, my family @UFC @danawhite @Mickmaynard2. I’m much better than what was shown tonight. Thanks to all my family , my team and my friends for the ongoing support. I love you all.
You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so u can know who u are, what u can rise from, how u can still come out of it.

The 28 year-old Gastleum was coming off decision losses to Darren Till and Israel Adesanya heading into the fight. The former welterweight now carries a record of 15-6.
