Kennedy Willing to Add Machida to “Dance Card” if Diaz Not Interested

Tim Kennedy

By FCF Staff

Tim Kennedy continues to search for his next opponent, after Vitor Belfort reportedly turned down an offer to fight the middleweight, and now the decorated solider has let it be known he’s willing to fight Lyoto Machida.

Earlier in the week, UFC President Dana White relayed that he’s approached Nick Diaz about fighting Machida, who is considering moving to 185 pounds. Although nothing has been announced yet on that front, Kennedy recently tweeted:

Lyoto is moving down to middleweight in the @ufc ?!?!?! I currently have a spot open on my dance card and would love to boogie. @danawhite

Kennedy (16-4) is coming off a successful Octagon debut, as he worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Roger Gracie at UFC 162 in July. The veteran is 8-2 in his last ten fights, with his only losses during that stretch coming against top ranked middleweight “Jacare” Souza and former Strikeforce champ Luke Rockhold.

Machida (19-4), meanwhile, is coming off a tightly contested and controversial split decision loss to light-heavyweight Phil Davis at UFC 163.
