It looks like the UFC did table an offer to Khabib Nurmagomedov for a long-discussed, super fight with Georges St-Pierre. But, a showdown with his fellow legend, clearly isn’t something that’s going to bring Nurmagomedov out of retirement.

For several years, there was extensive speculation about Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre fighting, and both men expressed an interest in the bout. For quite some time, UFC President Dana White said the promotion wasn’t interested in the match-up, and ultimately, both men retired.

More recently, however, White has hoped to lure Khabib out of retirement. Earlier this year, Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz reported the UFC had many the star a large offer for the GSP fight.

But, while talking to MMA Junkie recently, Nurmagomedov repeated that his days fighting are over.

“He sent me a message and said, ‘Hey, Georges St-Pierre wants to fight with you,’” Nurmagomedov said. “I said, ‘What can I do?’ I don’t know. I’m finished, you know? I think Georges is finished, too, you know. Let this guy be a legend. He’s 40 years old and I don’t understand why he has to fight. I think he has money, too. I’m finished. I’m really finished.”

The 32-year-old Nurmagomedov (29-0) retired in October, 2020, after submitting Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.
