Khabib Nurmagomedov appears to be on good terms with his next opponent, Justin Gaethje. But that hasn’t stopped the UFC’s lightweight champ from firing a warning shot at his next challenger.

Nurmagomedov is booked to face the interim champion on October 24th at UFC 254. Recently UFC commentator Joe Rogan shared out a video clip of Gaethje hitting pads, and Nurmagomedov reportedly responded with this comment (quote via MMA Fighting).

“Justin is a very nice guy and good opponent for me, but when octagon close he have to be ready not only boxing match, I’m not Dustin [Poirier] or Tony [Ferguson],” Nurmagomedov wrote on Instagram. “I will take him to the deepest ocean and drown him.”

Nurmagomedov (28-0) hasn’t fought since September, 2019, when he submitted Dustin Poirier.

Gaethje (22-2), meanwhile, stopped Tony Ferguson in May to win the interim title and secure a fight with Nurmagomedov.
