In recent months, there’s been some speculation that Khabib Nurmagomedov may not intend to fight well into his thirties. But, recently the UFC’s lightweight champ relayed he has “a lot more” fights to go, while discussing his new deal.

After it was announced that Nurmagomedov will face Dustin Poirier at UFC 242, September 7th, it was reported the vaunted grappler had also signed a new contract. In a new video that was posted on Nurmagomedov’s YouTube channel, the champion had this to say about his new deal and his future (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Frankly speaking, I would not like to disclose the terms of the contract. They are very good and most importantly, the brothers were extended, one was signed, the deadline was removed, we made some concessions, they went to some and came to some common denominator that is beneficial to all.

“If I say it is one of the best, it will somehow be wrong. I guess you can put it in the top three, some of the best conditions, contracts and agreements that have ever been concluded with the UFC.”

“…We have not finished yet what was on Oct. 6. We still have a lot of fights, so we plan to write more history and show that we are here. Being high in the mountains, we can reach certain heights and successes.”

Nurmagomedov is coming off a submission win over Conor McGregor, which took place on October 6th at UFC 229.
