As Khabib Nurmagomedov continues to campaign for a title shot, the lightweight contender has said he doesn’t find newly crowned champ, Eddie Alvarez, “interesting”.

Nurmagomedov is currently sitting in the #1 contender spot at 155, thanks to an undefeated record of 23-0, and a win over former champ, Rafael dos Anjos. Recently Nurmagomedov appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and while discussing Alvarez, the vaunted grappler stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“Now, Eddie is champion. For me, Eddie is [not] interesting,” Nurmagomedov said. “For me, interesting is title fight. I have to to take this belt. That’s why I want to fight now with Eddie, but to be honest with you, Eddie is not interesting for me. But now Eddie is champion. That’s why I want to fight with him.”

Recently Alvarez has said he’d like to face the winner of the August 20th rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov proceeded to argue that “I think he and his whole coaches understand I am on different level. He don’t fight with me. This is 100 percent.”

Nurmagomedov is coming off a stoppage win over Darrell Horcher in April, which marked the first time he had fought in two years.
