As the countdown for UFC 300 continues, so does the rumor mill regarding what fight will end up being the card’s main event. But, recently Khamzat Chimaev confirmed his name should be removed from the conversation.

The historic event is scheduled to take place on April 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada. To date, multiple, all-star fights have been booked for the card. But, the main event has yet to be announced.

The rising star recently appeared on “MMA Uncensored“. While discussing the possibility of competing at UFC 300, Chimaev reported he isn’t interested in competing at the event since his training camp would take place during the holy month of Ramadan (quotes via MMA Fighting).

“I will fight everybody,” Chimaev said. “Leon [Edwards], [Dricus] du Plessis, anyone, but not [during] Ramadan. I think Ramadan [is during] UFC 300.”

“Maybe somebody in Saudi Arabia. I want to fight there. Not fighting in Ramadan anymore.”

During Ramadan, practicing Muslims fast during the day. Other Muslim fighters, including former lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov, will not fight during or close to the holy month as a result.

Chimaev (13-0) is coming off a majority decision win over Kamaru Usman in October. That bout marked the only time the middleweight contender competed in 2023.
