Khamzat Chimaev: Donald Cerrone Would be an “Easy Fight”

Khamzat Chimaev wants a big name for his third UFC bout, after making history last month in his first two fights with the promotion. So, while Chimaev would almost certainly agree to fight Donald Cerrone, he doesn’t think the fight would be competitive.

The 26 year-old made UFC history last month, by becoming the first fighter in the promotion’s history to win two fights, in ten days. Chimaev submitted John Phillips and then ten days later, he stopped Rhys McKee with strikes.

Since then, Chimaev (8-0) has called out the likes of Conor McGregor, Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. While talking with Chael Sonnen recently, the latter asked Chimaev about the possibility of fighting Cerrone (quotes via Bloody Elbow).

“I don’t know (if I have an opponent yet). I train everyday,” Chimaev said. “No, nothing (about Cerrone).”

“I would be happy if they give me him. He has a good name, but for me it’s an easy fight, easy win. I think first or second round, I would finish him.”

UFC President Dana White has said the promotion is hoping to book Chimaev for another bout shortly.
