Koscheck Named Replacement for Sanchez, Fights Hughes Sept. 24th

By FCF Staff

The bout confirmations continued to roll out Tuesday as the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that Josh Koscheck will replace the injured Diego Sanchez versus Matt Hughes (pictured), September 24th. The bout will co-head-line the UFC 135 card, which will be hosted by Denver, Colorado’s Pepsi Center.

Koscheck (15-5) agreed to step in for Sanchez on short notice, who was forced to withdraw from the upcoming bout due to a broken hand. The American Kickboxing Academy fighter has been sidelined throughout 2011, due to a broken orbital bone Koscheck suffered, during his unanimous decision loss to welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre last December.

Hughes (45-8) also hasn’t competed yet this year, after being knocked out by BJ Penn in November. The defeat ended the former champion’s three fight win steak.

UFC 135 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between champion Jon Jones and former champ “Rampage” Jackson.
