Following reports that South Korean authorities are investigating whether Tae Hyun Bang may have agreed to throw his fight with Leo Kuntz at UFC FN 79, the latter has commented on the situation.

Kuntz and Bang fought at the November 19th, 2015 event in Seoul, South Korea, and Bang won the bout via split decision. According to reports, a large bet was placed on Kuntz, and Bang allegedly accepted a bribe to throw the fight. The South Korean fighter also reportedly bet half of the bribe on Kuntz to win as well. It’s also been reported, however, that Bang changed his mind at the last minute.

While speaking to MMA Junkie about the allegations, Kuntz had this to say about Bang’s performance:

“The UFC seemed like they knew something was definitely not right,” Kuntz said. “They told me it was the largest odd swing they’d seen in MMA and last minute. They told me, ‘Hey, if either one of you guys goes out there and doesn’t fight, you should prepare to be investigated.’”

“When I fought him, I had absolutely no reason to think he wasn’t fighting,” Kuntz added. “He flashed KO’d me. From what I could tell, it seemed like he was trying to win that fight.”

Kuntz has not fought for the UFC since his bout with Bang. Most recently the American submitted Young Ki Hong while fighting for Road FC.
