Leonard Garcia Confirms UFC Release

Garcia

By FCF Staff

Leonard Garcia is the latest featherweight to announce that he’s been released by the UFC, less than two weeks removed from the unanimous decision loss he suffered versus Cody McKenzie at UFC 159.

The defeat was Garcia’s fifth straight, as the veteran was coming off losses to Chan Sung Jung, Nam Phan, Matt Grice and Max Holloway.

Garcia confirmed his release via his official Twitter account by stating:

Got let go by @ufc thanks for everything! Ill be back better then ever! @seanshelby @danawhite

Despite incurring multiple losses, the 33 year-old vet became a fan favorite during his run with the UFC, due to his aggressive style and tenacity.

Garcia currently holds a record of 15-11-1.

Earlier Wednesday, Bart Palaszewski announced that he’s been cut by the UFC, and earlier this week fellow featherweights Antonio Carvalho and Pablo Garza were also released.
