LFA 40: Kevin Aguilar – Thanh Le Featherweight Title Unification Bout to Headline

By Press Release

HOUSTON, Texas – Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will unify its featherweight title when the promotion returns to Dallas at the end of May.

The main event of LFA 40 will feature a featherweight title unification bout when LFA featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar battles LFA interim featherweight champion Thanh Le. LFA 40 – Aguilar vs. Le takes place this Friday, May 25th at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas. The entire main card will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

“LFA featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar and LFA interim featherweight champion Thanh Le are the top two 145-pound prospects in the world,” stated Soares. “They will now fight to unify the title and become the undisputed top featherweight prospect in the world on May 25th. LFA started at The Bomb Factory at LFA 1 by unifying the Legacy FC and RFA bantamweight titles. We will now continue our exciting history in Dallas at LFA 40.”

Tickets for LFA 40 – Aguilar vs. Le will go on sale Monday, April 16th, at 10:00 am c.s.t. at TheBombFactory.com.

Aguilar (13-1) has been considered one of the top prospects in MMA for years. The final Legacy FC featherweight champion continued to strengthen his case as the crème de la crème in the featherweight division by winning the inaugural LFA featherweight title with a vicious highlight reel knockout at LFA 4. The win came against UFC vet and former Legacy FC featherweight champion Damon Jackson. The bout was a long-awaited showdown between the bitter rivals and Aguilar ended the contest in emphatic fashion. Aguilar then successfully defended his title against grappling ace Justin Rader at LFA 18. Aguilar cruised to a Unanimous Decision victory, but he injured his hand in the process. The injury has kept him out of action since last summer, but the proud Texan known as “The Angel of Death” is back and eager to unify his title in his home state at LFA 40.

Le (8-1) came to LFA last year with the reputation of being one of the flashiest and most lethal strikers in the sport. He gained this distinction with a highlight reel knockout on the twenty-second season of the UFC’s hit reality television show The Ultimate Fighter. Le quickly showed LFA fans that the hype was real, when he laid waist to longtime Legacy FC vet Alex Black, less than two minutes into his LFA debut at LFA 3. The sniper then recorded another knockout over LFA 2 headliner Lazar Stojadinovic in a bout that was featured on the second episode of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Le would then record his eighth professional win with a knockout of former RFA title challenger Bobby Moffett in the main event of LFA 31 earlier this year. The win earned Le the LFA interim featherweight title, which became available while Aguilar was on the mend.
