Another run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship for Eliot Marshall has come to an end, according to a recent post on the Twitter account of light-heavyweight veteran. The news comes after Marshall lost by unanimous decision to Brandon Vera, on October 29^th at UFC 137, to give the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt two consecutive losses.

Marshall’s Twitter update stated: “Well its official. I have been released by the UFC.”

Prior to his defeat to Vera, which saw the 31 year-old-fighter launch a comeback in round three to nearly take the fight, Marshall was stopped by Luiz Cane at UFC 128 in March.

Marshall’s initial run in the UFC saw the light-heavyweight go 3-1, but following a split decision loss to Vladimir Matyushenko in March, 2010, the former TUF competitor was released.

The light-heavyweight proceeded to win three straight fights before returning to the UFC earlier this year.

The Colorado based fighter made his way to the UFC in 2008 after going 5-1 as a professional.
