Los Angeles – October X, 2016 – Lion Fight Promotions and AXS TV FIGHTS today announced a multi-year contract extension for the network to continue to be the exclusive U.S. broadcast home for Lion Fight events. The world renowned Muay Thai organization is scheduled to promote at least eight televised events in 2017.

With 25 events already under Lion Fight’s belt in its first four years on AXS TV FIGHTS, the promotion has produced some of the most memorable fights in the network’s recent history, such as when MMA superstar Cris “Cyborg” Justino took on multi-world champion Jorina Baars, the anticipated rematch between combat sports legends John Wayne Parr and Cosmo Alexandre, and Muay Thai superstar Yodsanklai Fairtex’s reign as middleweight champ.

Lion Fight rounds out its 2016 campaign with Lion Fight 32 on Friday, Oct. 21 at the Tropicana Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, followed by Lion Fight 33 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on Friday, Nov. 18. AXS TV FIGHTS will be on site to capture the action with commentators UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich and “The Voice” Michael Schiavello, and ringside reporter Ron Kruck.

“We are extremely excited to remain a partner with AXS TV Fights as we continue to bring the world’s best Muay Thai fighters to our stage,” said Lion Fight CEO Scott Kent.

“Lion Fight has blossomed this past year with a huge increase in overall appeal as we showcase elite stand-up fighters with unparalled striking capabilities. Our roster includes champions like Antonina Shevchenko, Iman Barlow, Tum Sityodtong, Jo Nattawut, and Sergio Wielzen plus rising stars like Ky Hollenbeck, Gaston Bolanos, Travis Clay, Regian Eersel, and Brett Hlavacek.”

“Over the past four years, Lion Fight has become the preeminent brand in the world of Muay Thai and furthered AXS TV FIGHTS’ storied history of featuring the world’s best stand-up fighters,” said AXS TV FIGHTS CEO Andrew Simon. “We have seen tremendous growth in the popularity of Muay Thai on AXS TV, which made this new deal an essential component of our 45-event broadcast schedule in 2017.

“In the world of MMA and combat sports, Muay Thai is the ultimate discipline for the best stand-up strikers in the world,” said Miletich. “Lion Fight has done an incredible job bringing in international stars like John Wayne Parr and Jorina Baars to put on headlining fights, while building a powerhouse roster of emerging talent, like Gaston Bolanos whose spinning back-elbow is as dangerous as they come.”

“Muay Thai is sometimes overlooked in the world of combat sports, but fans of MMA will appreciate the incredible striking on display at Lion Fight events as these are truly the best stand-up fighters in the world,” said Miletich.
