Lorenz Larkin Discusses Decision to Sign With Bellator, Wanted Promotion “That’s Really Excited to Work With Me”

When Lorenz Larkin announced his decision to test free agency, he argued the UFC never promoted him extensively, and it looks like the welterweight’s confident that won’t be the case with Bellator.

Recently Bellator announced that it has signed Larkin to a contract, however, his promotional debut has yet to be determined. Since then, the talented striker appeared on MMA Junkie Radio, and while discussing his decision to sign with Bellator, Larkin said this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I just wanted to be somewhere where the promotion thought I could really help out the company and just be an asset and have somebody that’s really excited to work with me,” Larkin said. “That was a really big thing for me, and that’s the whole reason why I tested free agency out. Don’t get me wrong; every fighter wants a better financial situation, but I’m not willing to take a financial situation with somebody that doesn’t give a (expletive) about me. I want somebody that wants to work with me and we can come to a mutual deal that makes sense for both of us and have that backing behind me.”

Larkin also reported that the UFC didn’t extend him an offer until he was already late into negotiations with Bellator. Larkin claims the terms did not meet Bellator’s or even those that Rizin FF tabled.

The 30 year-old fighter closed out his UFC run having gone 4-1 in his last 5 contests.
