Lyoto Machida Ranked #5 Middleweight After UFC FN 30 Win
By FCF Staff
Due to Lyoto Machida’s extensive accomplishments at light-heavyweight, view disagreed that a win over Mark Munoz at UFC Fight Night 30, would propel the former champ into the top of the UFC’s middleweight rankings. Well, after knocking out Munoz with first round head kick, Machida currently sits at #5 in the promotion’s top ten list.
Munoz, who was positioned at #5 prior to the October 26th bout, has dropped to #7. As a result of Machida’s introduction, Francis Carmont and Costa Philippou have both dropped one spot to #8 and #9 respectively. Tim Boetsch, who was previously ranked #10, is no longer in the top ten.
Since “The Dragon” appears set to be competing at 185 for the foreseeable future, his position at light-heavyweight dropped four spots and he’s now ranked #10.
The victory returned Machida (20-4) to the win column after he lost a controversial, unanimous decision loss to Phil Davis at UFC 163 in August.
