M-1 Challenge 59: Sergei Kharitonov Takes Out Kenny Garner

M-1 Challenge 59 took place today in Astana, Kazakhstan, and in the main event, PRIDE veteran Sergei Kharitonov stopped heavyweight Kenny Garner in the opening round.
With the win, the Russian fighter moved his record to 23-5, while the American Garner saw his slip to 16-9. The heavyweights also fought in November, and Kharitonov won the bout via a third round TKO (due to doctor’s stoppage).
The card also saw UFC vet Luigi Fioravanti submit middleweight Sergey Kovalev in the second round.
