Following Manon Fiorot’s win over Rose Namajunas at UFC Paris, Saturday, there’s been a lot of debate about whether the latter should abandon her move to flyweight. It seems Fiorot is part of that camp.

During their bout, Fiorot appeared to be the bigger and stronger fighter, as she bested Namajunas in many of the striking and grappling exchanges. Namajunas did appear to dislocate or break the pinky finger on her right hand early in the fight, which likely impacted her performance, but Fiorot was awarded a clear-cut, decision win.

While talking with the media afterward, Fiorot expressed doubts about whether Namajunas should remain at flyweight (quotes via MMA Junkie.com).

“I think she’s lacking a bit of power in this weight class,” Fiorot said. “I don’t know what she’s going to do after, if she’s going to stay there or go back, but I don’t think it’s her weight class.”

“…I knew I was a better striker, so I was pretty sure she wanted to wrestle me,” Fiorot also noted. “But it was impossible to take me down.”

Namajunas (11-6) decided to move up from strawweight after losing the title to Carla Esparza in May, 2022. The former champ is 3-2 in her last 5 fights.

Fiorot (11-1) has won all six of her UFC fights to date.
