A huge lightweight bout has been added to Cage Warriors’ return to Dublin today, as officials confirmed that former double-champ Mason ‘The Dragon’ Jones will face recent title challenger Yann Liasse.

The pair will meet in a three round affair on the main card of CW 161 on Saturday, October 14th, on a historic first ever night of Mixed Martial Arts at the RDS.

Jones (12-2, 1NC) recently made a successful return to the promotion following a four-fight run in the UFC and an extended hiatus from competition.

The Welshman got the better of Brazilian brawler Alexandre Ribeiro at CW 158 in July, stopping the KO-artist a shade under three-and-a-half minutes.

‘The Dragon’ had previously attained ‘double-champ’ status in the famous yellow gloves, defeating Joe McColgan to capture lightweight gold in March 2020, before returning six months later at welterweight to claim the 170lbs title in a titanic clash against Adam Proctor.

Liasse (9-2, 1NC) last saw action in April, coming up short against lightweight champion George Hardwick in his promotional debut.

Prior to that he was unbeaten in his previous six outings.

A submission expert, the Luxembourger counts five rear-naked choke finishes among his nine professional victories.

The bout joins an already stacked fight card alongside the likes of James Sheehan vs Olli Santalahti, Ryan Shelley vs Jordy Bakkes and a clash of undefeated former amateur standouts as Solomon Simon meets Marko Sarasjärvi.

The card will also feature the return of Paddy McCorry, and the debut of the highly touted Ger Harris, with more bouts set to be confirmed in due course.

Tickets for the historic event are available now via CageWarriors.com.
