IT’S TIME FOR MMA TO HAVE ITS REDEMPTION!!!
TOP 10 RANKED PRO BOXER STEPHANE OUELLET
TO MAKE THE SWITCH TO MMA!!!

UCC logo

UCC 6: REDEMPTION
OCTOBER 19, 2001
VERDUN AUDITORIUM
MONTREAL, QUEBEC

Montreal (Canada)- History will once again be made as some of the sports brightest young stars will enter the UCC RING OF FURYTM to show the fight world just what Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) combat is all about. There has never been a more important night for Canadian MMA as one of the countries most recognizable athletes will be making his UCC and MMA debut. Stephane Ouellet is not only a house hold name in his native Quebec but he is the most beloved athlete there as well.

Known as "the people’s fighter", Ouellet is presently ranked in the top 10 in the WBA rankings as well as the IBF rankings with a pro record of 29-4-0 (18 KOs) and was also the #1 contender to the WBC crown ten months ago. Stephane is known by boxing fans for the extreme speed of his jabs and knockout power but at UCC 6 he will FINALLY be able to explode on his opponent like never before. Ouellet is loved by all on his home turf of Quebec and respected by sports fans nation wide for his memorable series of bouts with the highly ranked Davey Hilton. Hilton won the first two encounters against the less experienced Ouellet but instead of bowing his head in defeat Stephane came back, conjured up his warrior spirit and defeated Hilton in the most dramatic boxing bout in Canadian history.

The 29-year-old slugger has never been more focused and is dedicating himself to continue his boxing training while adding some new skills and becoming a well-rounded MMA fighter. The UCC office has been flooded by media and fans who want to know more about this extraordinary switch over and to find out when tickets go on sale. Judging by the buzz created by Ouellet’s decision to become a MMA fighter, it won’t take long to pack the Verdun Auditorium.

Mixed Martial Arts fans will also be happy to hear that two of the very few UNDEFEATED fighters in the game will be in action at UCC 6. Sean Sherk is 17-0 in pro MMA and is coming to Canada for the first time with hopes of bringing some UCC gold home with him. He will challenge local hero and UCC World Middleweight champion Donald Ouimet who is 4-0 in MMA. Donald captured this prestigious title at UCC 4 in Sherbrooke last May and is eager to defend what he has worked so hard to achieve. With over 17 years of boxing experience and a well-rounded ground game, Ouimet is confident that he will give Sherk his first loss and send him home empty handed with nothing but bumps and bruises.

Team Extreme Laverne Clark has made several appearances in the UFC with a series of spectacular KO wins and now he is set to invade the UCC RING OF FURY!!! Eagerly awaiting his arrival is "UCC Bad Guy" Pain Peters. In Pain’s MMA debut he brutally knocked out Team Extreme Brian Dunn in just over 20 seconds and has been creating chaos in the UCC ever since. After laying a vicious pounding on North American Chinese Boxing champion Charles Nestor, UCC fans have been asking for more PAIN. Will it be Clark’s turn to feel the PAIN or will Peters end up on the receiving end in this international SUPERFIGHT?

UCC Canadian Middleweight champion Steve "Lion Heart" Vigneault will bring his aggressive combat style back into the UCC RING OF FURYTM when he faces undefeated powerhouse Mike Kitchen. Both of these athletes have victories in less than one minute against other opponents and now it’s time for them to go head to head for UCC gold! The LION HEART has become one of the most popular UCC fighters and now its Kitchen’s chance to heat things up and show the fight world that he has what it takes to become a champion!

The UCC Canadian Lightweight title is on the line when Phil Hughes returns to action to defend his title against Justin Bruckmann. Both of these young warriors have shown tremendous heart in and out of the ring and a more evenly matched fight will not be found anywhere else. Hughes is a full time student of Tony Blauer and prides himself on having great conditioning, tremendous grappling skills and striking skills to match. Bruckmann is known as being a "Mat Monster" in the Judo community and has promised the UCC and its fans that a new and improved Justin Bruckmann is gunning for that Lightweight strap.

UCC Canadian Super Lightweight champion Richard "Monkey" Nancoo is a man of action and no talk. Being one of Canada’s best jiu-jitsu players it’s a given that his ground game is extremely solid but at UCC 3 when Nancoo captured the title fight fans got to see a more aggressive fighter with a long mean streak! To challenge Nancoo will be local SUPER STRIKER Yves "Tiger" Jabouin. This will be a classic GRAPPLER vs. STRIKER match for UCC gold and the right to be called the toughest under 155 pound fighter in Canada.

Former UCC Canadian Light Heavyweight champion Jeromie Sills is returning to action after a disappointing loss to Gary Armbrust. Sills already has two KO wins in his young career and sees #3 in BJJ practitioner and undefeated amateur fighter Jean-Phillipe Cantin. Does Cantin have the technique to ward off the onslaught of Sills and gain victory in his UCC debut? It’s the attitude of Cantin versus the champion mind of Sills in this LHW SUPERFIGHT to climb the UCC ladder.

Also in action will be the return of UCC sensation DAVID "THE CROW" LOISEAU when he goes toe to toe with a soon to be announced opponent.

Tickets will go on sale very soon for this historic evening of full contact combat action.
