Matt Brown Steps in for Pascal Krauss at UFC 138
By FCF Staff
Matt Brown will look to build upon his recent unanimous decision over John Howard on November 5th, as today the Ultimate Fighting Championship has confirmed that the veteran has agreed to step in for the injured Pascal Krauss and fight John Hathaway.
The bout will be part of the UFC 138 card, which will be hosted by Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena. No information regarding the nature of Krauss’s injury was given.
Brown’s (12-10) aforementioned victory over Howard at UFC Live 4 ended the fighter’s three fight losing streak and likely staved off his dismissal from the promotion. Heading into the UD win, Brown had dropped bouts Ricardo Almeida, Chris Lytle and Brian Foster. Prior to the losing streak, however, Brown had won three straight fights.
Hathaway (15-1) is coming off a split decision victory over Kris McCray in March, after losing by unanimous decision to Mike Pyle last October. The British fighter has gone 6-1 in his UFC tenure and has scored additional wins over Diego Sanchez and Rick Story.
UFC 138 will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Chris Leben and Mark Munoz. Some of the other bouts that have been confirmed for the event include Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barao, Anthony Njokuani vs. Paul Taylor, and Papy Abdei vs. Thiago Alves.
