McEwan vs Gittins BW Title Bout Added to CW 164: Newcastle

By press release

Cage Warriors – Europe’s Leading MMA Organisation – has added a huge bout for the currently vacant bantamweight title to their upcoming return to Newcastle.

Scotland’s Reece McEwan will face Next Generation’s Liam ‘The Nightmare’ Gittins over five rounds on Saturday, November 25th at the Vertu Motors Arena.

The bout will feature on the main card of the blockbuster CW 164 bill, which marks the promotion’s first visit to the region following a nine-year hiatus.

McEwan, 28, of Greenock, Scotland, has developed a cult following in the famous yellow gloves in recent years, with fans trailing the bantamweight prospect to fights all over the UK.

Training out of The Griphouse, McEwan has put together a four-fight winning streak, including three by way of finish, since joining the promotion in April 2022.

With #1 contender Nathan Fletcher on the sidelines until the New Year, teammate Liam Gittins steps in to compete for the title recently vacated by UFC star Caolan Loughran.

Gittins, who has recently competed at featherweight, moves back down to his natural weight class for the opportunity, and will carry a four-fight winning streak, including finishes in his last three bouts, into the contest.

“We told the fans to expect a huge card for our return to Newcastle, and things just got a whole lot bigger with the addition of another title fight…” said CW President Graham Boylan.

“Reece McEwan has been submitting opponents left, right and centre on his way to the title, and will be bringing a huge crowd into battle with him.”

“With the number one contender side-lined, Liam Gittins gets an incredible opportunity to step up and completely change the dynamic of the fight.”

“All the ingredients are in place for an instant classic on November 25th!”

Also confirmed for CW 164 is the debut of second generation star Kennedy Freeman – daughter of MMA legend Ian ‘The Machine’ Freeman- as she takes on Annabruna Rados.

Full card and ticket details for the event, which will air live on UFC Fight Pass, are available here, with further bouts TBA.
