Media Watch: Dana White Tells TMZ “Fedor Sucks”

By FCF Staff

UFC President Dana White was once willing to bend over backwards to sign all-time legend Fedor Emelianenko, better known to the world as “Fedor,” and, for a minute in 2009, it seemed like a deal between the UFC and M-1 Global, Fedor’s Russia-based management, was on the horizon. Then, Fedor’s group switched directions and signed with then-independently owned Strikeforce, prompting White to ignite a war of words and criticize Fedor, M-1 and Strikeforce.

In April 2010, though, White admitted in an interview that he still had an “obsession” with Fedor and that he was still determined to sign him When asked during the interview when the last time was that White had any dialogue with M-1, White chuckled and responded, “More recent than you would think,” despite the existing, multi-fight contract Fedor was still under with Strikeforce.

Following that interview, Fedor’s career took a downward spiral, with the fighter losing three bouts in a row. More recently, however, he has won two straight fights – a unanimous decision over Jeff Monson on Nov. 20 and a first round KO of Japanese Olympic Gold Medalist Satoshi Ishii on New Year’s Eve in Japan.

TMZ recently caught up with White on the street and asked him his thoughts on Fedor. White made his feelings clear. Watch the video by clicking on the player below:
