Megan Anderson Wants to Fight “Consistently”, Not Wait Out For Title Shot

After finishing her last two opponents, Megan Anderson has returned to the title shot mix in the UFC’s female, featherweight division. But, the former Invicta FC champ wants to stay busy and fight often, rather than wait out multiple months for a title shot.

Since Anderson was submitted by Felicia Spencer in May, 2019, the Australian fighter has gone to submit Zarah Fairn dos Santos and knockout Norma Dumont Viana. As a result, the 30 year-old has ensured she remains in reach of a title shot.

Ultimately, however, the UFC tapped Spencer to face the featheweight champ Amanda Nunes next, and the two are going to battle June 6th.

While talking about that recently with MMA Junkie, and her plans for the future, Anderson said this.

“We knew going into that card since they put Felicia on the card that if she also won, that they would probably give her the title shot first,” Anderson said. “They seem to like her, they seem to want to push her, which is fine, all (credit) to her. I couldn’t have done anything more. I feel like that was a great performance and it only just gives me experience. I don’t want to wait for the winner, I want to fight consistently.

“I’m only getting better so me being able to fight consistently means that I can improve my skills, I can showcase them and really solidify my position and I guess my reason why I should be fighting for the title. If it’s one more fight, if it’s two more fights, if it’s three more fights, I don’t really care. It’ll happen when it’s supposed to happen and we’ll be ready.”

Since arriving in the UFC in 2018, Anderson (11-4) has gone 3-2. The featherweight’s other loss came against former champ, Holly Holm.
